Give in celebration

Increasingly popular is the idea of asking for donations to arc instead of having presents for a celebration.  Last year arc received over £33,000 in this way and we are delighted and touched when we hear of such kindness and generosity.

  • Janice & Claire WebsterTo celebrate two special birthdays, Janice Webster (50) and daughter Claire (21), both of Carluke in Lanarkshire, held a ceilidh for family and friends and raised £315 for arc. Claire has had arthritis since she was nine years old but she is doing well; having recently graduated with a BA in Accounting and Finance, Claire is now working in Edinburgh. Janice told us:
"It was wonderful to see Claire dance at our birthday celebration and so I hope that the valuable work arc does
can continue to help others with arthritis."

  • Professor Roger Sturrock of the Centre for Rheumatic Diseases in Glasgow raised over £600 in lieu of presents for his 60th birthday.
  • Richard and Pat Froomberg’s friends and family joined together to donate over £2,600 when celebrating their Ruby Wedding Anniversary.
  • Gifts for Golden Wedding Anniversary couple, Alan and Shirley Sears of Bushey, Herts, brought in £1,000 for arc.

We can help with information about arc and provide personalised Gift Forms, so if you’ve got a birthday, wedding, wedding anniversary or any kind of celebration coming up – why not tell us about it?

And if you’re feeling adventurous: why not celebrate in a really unusual way and get sponsorship to take on a challenge?   A 60-year old making a parachute jump, a 40-year old organising a family trek in the countryside, a couple celebrating knee replacements walking in Austria – all these and more have thought up a remarkable way to celebrate a milestone in their lives, creating special memories at the same time as supporting the work of arc.
